CASE STUDY: Ford Ranger eLearning
Making the most of interactive learning
The Challenge
The Solution
Ford were on the verge of launching their industry-leading, off-road pick-up vehicles: Next-Generation Ranger and Raptor. Two striking vehicles, with two distinct audiences. It was absolutely key for our dealers to become true experts to effectively promote these vehicles in the right way.
We needed to create an interactive eLearning tool that would blend various technologies, formats and styles to make learning an enjoyable experience, while maintaining a clear and concise manner to convey the complex technical information.
We decided to develop a gamified animation technique that plays on the joyful, lifestyle aspect of the vehicles. The user travels through outdoor landscapes, with hotspots, activities and interactive elements along the way, reflecting Ford’s adventurous customers. The design featured a light and dark theme, with a dramatic split screen and textured illustrative backdrops.
The Ranger section is bright, and reflects the versatility of the vehicle for work, family and play; the Raptor section is dark and gritty, featuring stormy weather and mud splashes, to mirror thrill-seeking customers. The split screen allowed users to compare the vehicles side-by-side at any point in the course, giving them more control over their learning.
The Results
Our innovative and engaging approach, paired with our expressive visual style, was a big hit. Users had the thrill of visualising the vehicles in 3D, which really amped up the excitement during the long lead time between training and the vehicles hitting dealerships.
It was a fresh approach to learning that not only empowered Ford dealers but also contributed to a positive customer experience.
